Exploring the snowy reaches of the Hebra Mountains in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reveals numerous side activities and hidden characters. Among these objectives is a side quest centered around tracking down a legendary shield surfer who has mysteriously vanished. Completing this rescue mission grants useful equipment and unlocks exciting minigame opportunities across the frozen slopes.
Starting the Search for Selmie
To begin this quest, players must first complete the main story objectives in Rito Village so the local blizzard clears. Once the region reopens, travel toward the Biron Snowshelf where a noticeable smoke signal rises. Speak with an NPC named Fin, who expresses concern that his master Selmie has gone missing while surveying new surfing courses.
Locating the Hidden Cave
Selmie can be found trapped inside the East Biron Snowshelf Cave located down the slope from the initial smoke signal. A glowing creature near the entrance often helps guide observant players toward the cavern opening. Following the underground path leads directly to Selmie, who is resting near a campfire inside.
Clearing the Obstacle and Rescuing Selmie
Reaching and helping Selmie requires clearing a heavy wall of cracked boulders that blocks her exit route. Players can quickly destroy these obstruction rocks using bomb flower arrows or a heavy rock-fused weapon. Once the passage is completely cleared, talk to Selmie so she can safely return to her mountain sanctuary.
Claiming Quest Rewards and Unlocking Mini Games
After freeing Selmie, travel up to Selmie's Lodge located near the high summit of Hebra Peak. Speak with her inside the cabin to officially finish the questline and collect your earnings. She will grant Link a Strong Zonaite Shield and permanently unlock the shield surfing time trial mini games.
